Center for Earth Systems Analysis Research

Department of Geography, San Diego State University

Welcome to CESAR

The Center for Earth Systems Analysis Research is a shared educational and research center located in the Department of Geography at San Diego State University. The center encompasses five separate laboratory facilities in support of geographic information science and technology, qualitative methods and research, and physical modeling and processes. Four of these facilities are computer labs equipped with high-end workstations and the latest versions of GIS, remote sensing/image processing, and spatial statistics software. These facilities are used to support the department teaching mission, faculty and graduate student research, as well as over one million dollars in annual extramural funded research. CESAR houses four full-time staff members each with specific geo-spatial expertise as well as advanced information technology and computing knowledge.

In addition to the teaching and research mission, CESAR also supports all the computing requirements of the Department of Geography. CESAR staff maintain all faculty, staff, and student office computers, as well as all department printers and large format plotters. The technical staff create and maintain most of the department's websites and all published GIS and Imagery web services. CESAR also supports the additional centers and institutes founded by faculty members.
